If you aren’t doing a full site setup and just want to upload a single page layout, you can do that easily right inside the Divi 5 Visual Builder.

Step 1: Create and Open a New Page

  1. Log into your WordPress dashboard and go to Pages > Add New Page. (or just open a page that you want to edit)
  2. Give your page a title and click Use Divi Builder.
  3. Select Edit With The Divi Builder

Step 2: Open Page Portability

  1. Once the builder loads, look at the top left of your screen and click the  blue cog symbol
  2. click on the "Import" option
A website editor shows the “Main Canvas” menu open with options like Open Recent, Import, and Edit Page. The page being edited displays a theme section with text content.

3. In the popup window, switch over to the Choose Filend select your page.json file.

  • Replace Existing Content wipes your current page completely clean to start fresh with the new design; leave it unchecked if you want to add the new layout below your existing work.
  • Import Presets pulls in the custom module styles like button designs or text formatting saved inside the file; always keep this enabled so your modules don't lose their styling and drop back to plain defaults.
  • Replace Existing Presets will overwrite your current site styles if they share the exact same name as an incoming preset; leave this disabled to safely merge new designs into an active site, or enable it if you want the demo settings to completely override your site defaults.
  • Download Backup Before Importing automatically saves a copy of your current page to your computer right before the new file loads, serving as a vital safety net if you ever need to restore your original content.
A website builder interface shows an "Import & Export" menu open, with options to import a layout and select import preferences, overlaying a website template in editing mode.

Where to find your page layouts?

Your page layouts are downloadable from your theme portal, located right inside the Theme Layout folder. Simply log into your portal account, download the layout pack and save  it on your computer to find the layouts.json file ready for your upload

4. Click the main Save button in the lower right corner of the Divi menu bar to publish the layout changes.

Next Steps: Connecting the Frame

If you imported the page layout first and it looks a bit plain, remember to complete the system:

  • Go to the Variable/Preset Manager panel on the left sidebar to pull in your brand color palette. Follow this tutorial.

  • Head to Divi > Theme Builder from your dashboard to assign your global header and footer so the top and bottom of your new page match the rest of your site template perfectly. Follow this tutorial.
