Step 1: Update WordPress

Divi utilises the latest WordPress hooks and functions to maintain peak performance and security. Running an outdated version of WordPress isn't just a performance drag—it’s a major security risk.

  • Action: Go to Dashboard > Updates and ensure you are running the most recent version of WordPress before proceeding.

Step 2: Install the Parent Divi Theme

A child theme is an extension, not a standalone product. You must have the core Divi Parent Theme installed and activated first.

  • Action: Upload and activate Divi.zip from your Elegant Themes account if you haven't already.

Step 3: Upload & Activate the Child Theme

Now that the parent theme is ready, you can install your specific Child Theme to safely handle your customisations.

  • Go to Appearance> Themes> Add Themes
  • Upload your new theme on the next step
  • Select your child-theme.zip file and click Install Now.
